Mike Greenwood

Business Manager for north England and Scotland

Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport (FCILT);
Associate Member of the Association of Transport Co-ordinating Officers (ATCO).

Mike’s responsibilities include client liaison, ensuring client satisfaction and providing advice and guidance. His many years in the public transport industry help him to fully understand the challenges that clients face and he is able to offer options and solutions, drawing on his knowledge of the extensive FWT product range.

In 1983 Mike moved to South Yorkshire PTE as Information Officer. His prime responsibility was managing all the public information functions for a large Passenger Transport Executive which, through its unique low-fares policy, increased patronage of its services dramatically.

At deregulation in 1986, Mike became Customer Services Manager for the bus operating company South Yorkshire Transport. His responsibilities included overseeing the efficient production of bus service information, management of SYT’s four travel enquiry shops and responding to passenger complaints on bus service matters. He was also responsible for setting up a telephone enquiry service and a revenue protection squad. In total Mike had 25 staff reporting to him. Mike also worked closely with SYT’s Marketing Manager. These were challenging times as the cheap fare policy was abandoned and a significant amount of patronage and service reduction had to be carefully managed.

In April 1988 Mike joined FWT. His many years in the public transport industry help him to fully understand the challenges that clients face.

Mike is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport. He serves on the Information & Ticketing Executive in his Associate Member role of ATCO.

Away from the workplace Mike is heavily involved in transport history. He is a Director of a Leicester Transport Heritage Trust where he looks after archive and marketing matters. He has written several historical reference books on the bus industry and is a member of a number of learned transport associations. He particularly enjoys the social history aspect of transport.

In complete contrast to ‘old transport’ Mike also enjoys motorsport both domestically and internationally with a particular preference for American motorsport. He is an accomplished photographer and writes a regular column for a specialist UK motoring magazine. He regularly has photographs published in UK, American, Dutch and New Zealand motorsport magazines. Perhaps not surprisingly, Mike enjoys driving but leaves the racing to those on the track! He has been a member of the Institute of Advanced Motorists for over 25-years.
