| WAP |
| WAP stands for Wireless Application
Protocol; it is the wireless equivalent of the HTTP protocol
- the method by which computers wired to the Internet communicate
with each other. Websites are written in HTML, a WAP site is
written in WML; Wireless Mark-up Language. |
| |
| Contrary to the claims of certain
mobile telecommunications companies, WAP is not, at least not
yet, 'the Internet on a mobile phone'. Currently, WAP services
comprise text-based information available on a WAP-enabled mobile
phone. |
| |
| We can adapt your existing site
into WAP format, or alternatively produce a bespoke application
to suit the needs of you and your customers. |

| Security |
| A company can use a WAP site as a secure area
to store names, addresses and appointments of business contacts,
updated by administration at head office and, using password
protection, accessible on a WAP-enabled mobile phone by the
company's sales staff while out on-the-road. |
| |
| Integrated Content |
| The WAP service is an ideal medium for displaying
frequently updated information - for example public transport
operators, information based companies and events news. |
| |
| Using an SMS server, a business can also target
specific customers with a text message alerting the message
receiver to product promotions, new deals and custom offers.
